Overall Rank = 15/164
Age Group = M20-29
Age Group Rank = 5/20
Pre-race routine:

Drive to the site, unload the car, pump up the tires, set up in transition, body marking and race packet, bathroom.
Event warmup:

Nada
Swim
  • 04m 52s
  • 300 meters
  • 01m 37s / 100 meters
Comments:

Passed two people who put in too slow of times about 100-150 meters into the race then there was nobody in sight to draft off of. Took it real easy like I always do. A little slower than last year but took it a lot eaier than I used to. No point in wasting effort on a short swim when you have a tough bike ahead.
What would you do differently?:

Nada
Transition 1
  • 00m 43s
Comments:

One of my fastest ever. Getting better as I do more races.
Bike
  • 48m 46s
  • 17 miles
  • 20.92 mile/hr
Comments:

Started out pretty hard but held back for most of the way as I ended up behind a guy that was about the same pace as me. I could have overtaken him near the end but figured it wasn't worth the effort. Two guys blew by me which was a little deflating but they finished in the top 3.
What would you do differently?:

Should have pushed it a little harder on the way back but I held back on purpose so that I could actually feel my legs on the run for the first time ever.
Transition 2
  • 00m 51s
Comments:

A little slower than I thought. T1 was actually faster somehow. Oh well. Not too bad.
What would you do differently?:

Nada
Run
  • 23m 23s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt great. Took the uphill first half a little easy and tried to push the downhill a little more. Felt like my best 5k ever, but ended up being pretty normal. On of my better runs and by far the most comfortable 5k's, but probably could have pushed harder, just didn't know until after the race.
What would you do differently?:

Don't hold back and push myself til I explode like normal.
Post race
Warm down:

Banana and ice tea while waiting for the wifey to finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not much. Probably could have pushed a little harder but didnt' know until the race was over.

Event comments:

I really enjoy this race. It was the first triathlon I ever did so my wife and I come back to it every year. It is small but there are a couple guys that are just really fast (and they are mostly in my age group). Great first race or early season warm up.

Course: New course this year because a bridge was under construction. The actual mileage was about 17 miles as the course was longer this year than it usually is (usually 16 miles).
