Pre-race routine:

No routine at all; ran around and kept forgetting things because I had to find the person who was kind enough to pick up my packet on Friday. By the time I got the number pinned on, the race start was only eight minutes away.
Event warmup:

Running from start back to bag back to start back to bag and back to start. Realized I was wearing two layers on legs and had my iPhone, so took that back to the bag. Then realized I didn't have iPod, so ran back to get that. Extremely disorganized this morning.

Comments:

As usual, started out faster than I wanted to; I think a lot of people did. Ended up OK. Plan was to run the first two miles in between 21-22 minutes, actually beat 21. Tough hill from about 1.25 through to almost mile two mark, which is what slowed me down there; I trudged my way up slowly but kept running. Another short tough hill midway between mile two and three; that slowed me down and I took a 30 second walk break at the water stop, which slowed me there. Paced nicely on the fourth mile while the HR cranked up then pushed it up hard on last mile; flat for most of that, I picked off a number of people there but was feeling it. Then, the course gains about 75-80 feet in elevation over the last tenth mile or so, pretty brutal. Didn't have much left the last couple hundred yards; I'd gone beyond LT by then.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Didn't start as slow as I'd planned but it worked out because the hills in 2 and 3 would have slowed me anyway so it's good I gained some ground in mile 1. Wish I'd started faster pace earlier; I started around 3.75 or so.

Warm down:

Walked around, drank a bottle of water, had a banana.

Event comments:

Good race, their fifth year now I think. Pretty tough course with the hills. My only real complaint is they only have one drink station; wish they'd add one more.
