Total Time = 1h 27m 41s
Overall Rank = 31/70
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 4/7
Pre-race routine:

Had camped overnight at lake. Woke up at 5:30 am and had water, coffee and muffin. Got equipment ready.
Event warmup:

Did stretches for back and rode bike some.
Swim
  • 11m 8s
  • 547 yards
  • 02m 01s / 100 yards
Comments:

First OWS of the season. I forgot how it gets so crowded at the start and probably didn't get into a real good rhythm until the turn around. It was a good swim though.
Transition 1
  • 01m 26s
Comments:

I didn't worry about drying off after swim because it was so hot. Maybe that saved me some time.
Bike
  • 43m 22s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 17.20 mile/hr
Comments:

My goal was to improve on my bike leg from this race last year. (I did it last year in just over 47 mins)
What would you do differently?:

I probably need to work on riding in a more aero position. That would help some.
Transition 2
  • 01m 12s
Run
  • 30m 31s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

Going into this race I was concerned about the run, because I had injured my lower back and it took awhile for me to be able to run without low back pain. Fortunately, I did not have any problems with my back during this run. So really my expectations were just to get through the run without any pain and if I can keep a pace similar to last year that's okay. It was a touch faster than last year but not by much. I felt like I was slow, but steady. I tried to pick up the pace in the last half mile.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing for my situation in this race, but I will need to do more bike run bricks as well as intervals with my running so I can get back up to speed.
Post race
Warm down:

Went directly to shaded area and drank cold water. Did some stretches.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Had low back injury in May which took away from quality training before this race.

Event comments:

Liked the Honey Milk and ice cream bars after the race.
