Event warmup:

Swam a couple yards, walked around a bit and since we were nearly a mile from parking to the starting area, I rode my bike there. Met Lora from BT and we were in the same wave so we chatted to cool our nerves a little. I usually don't start getting nervous until I'm actually minutes from the start of the race since I don't actually believe I'll be doing it until I'm...well...actually getting ready to do it. It's the same feeling I used to have at track days with my sportbike. :)
Swim
  • 19m 16s
  • 880 yards
  • 02m 11s / 100 yards
Comments:

880 yards isn't as far as it looks. I felt pretty good and I freestyled for most of the swim and only breast stroked when I got close to someone and wasn't exactly sure what they were going to do. My left calf started to cramp up towards the end when I realized I had a lot of energy left and tried to pick up the pace a little. I had hoped to get out of the water under 20 minutes and I did...I probably could have even made it out under 18 if I had tried harder.
What would you do differently?:

Not hold back so much.
Transition 1
  • 04m 32s
Comments:

My shoes were my biggest hurdle and I was trying to get my heart rate down from running into the TA. Gotta work on that. :)
Bike
  • 47m 14s
  • 12 miles
  • 15.24 mile/hr
Comments:

The rain came about mile 9 of the bike for me and didn't stop. Handle bars are slippery when it's wet. :)
What would you do differently?:

Need to not hold back so much and stop the whole being psyched out thing because of doing something I haven't done before such as that many hills in one ride. Whatever...I'll get through it is what I should have been saying.
Transition 2
  • 01m 46s
Comments:

Much better, but need to work on it.
Run
  • 37m 33s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 12m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

I lallygagged for most of the run and could have totally pushed myself harder even though my HR was already in the high 160s. I have no idea why I didn't, maybe I was having too much fun or something.
What would you do differently?:

Push harder. No reason I should have crossed the finish line with all my breath and joking with the kid handing out the medals.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked back to my car with a mile cool down and pouring down rain.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My head.

Event comments:

Parking sucked, but not sure what you could do about it. Results were up FAST! Very cool!

I totally psyched myself out of this bike because of pre driving the course the day before and how many freakin' hills there were. Wow there were a lot of hills and I haven't trained that much with hills, BUT it ended up not being bad at all. Sure it was hard and some hills I was only doing 8-9 mph up them, but overall it was pretty good. I love cornering and pass people easy there (comes from moto for me) and I was nearly 25-26 mph on some of the downhills and that was pretty cool. Bottom line, my bike rocks and makes riding so easy. Like with the swim, I was holding back a little and could have probably done better had I not been.
