Sunny
Total Time = 1h 15m 21s
Overall Rank = 48/126
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 8/26
Pre-race routine:

camped at race site and woke up to a beautiful sunrise over the lake...had two Starbuck's Double Shot to get started, chocolate muffin, 1/2 an Ensure...
Event warmup:

just jogged from place to place, rode bike a bit to check gears...
Swim
  • 11m 54s
  • 547 yards
  • 02m 11s / 100 yards
Comments:

simply not a good swim...I had been swimming well in the pool (I know OWS is different from pool), swam some the night before, swam last week at Bottomless Lakes, felt confident, etc. but simply did not have a good swim...I know I could easily take 1 min off...perhaps it was all the physical contact the first 25 m of the swim...I did feel the 2nd half was faster than the 1st half, but I do not know for sure...
What would you do differently?:

simply do more OWS races...
Transition 1
  • 00m 59s
Comments:

2nd fastest T1 in my age group...
What would you do differently?:

may want to put on socks at this point to avoid blisters on the run...
Bike
  • 36m 42s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 20.32 mile/hr
Comments:

perhaps one of my best bike legs...the training, the aerobars, and the recent tune up have made a positive difference...
What would you do differently?:

I am pretty sure I could have pushed it harder and taken an extra minute off of bike time...but, how would it have affected my run?...
Transition 2
  • 00m 45s
Comments:

13th in age group (but many with shorter T2 had slower bike times)...
What would you do differently?:

I am surprised so many people were faster than me on this...I usually am one of the faster T2's...
Run
  • 24m 59s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

this is slower than my HM pace...people I usually beat in a running race and/or in a reverse tri had better times...I know I can take off 2 to 4 min off run time...I know this will come around...
What would you do differently?:

perhaps wear Garmin on the run to pace myself better...
Post race
Warm down:

two water bottles...one to drink and the other inside tri suit to cool me down...walked...Athlete's Honey Milk...

What limited your ability to perform faster:

heat...poor swim time, coulda run faster...will aim for 1:12:00 next year!...

Event comments:

a great race, well organized, fun, great camping...
