Swim
  • 06m 18s
  • 328 yards
  • 01m 55s / 100 yards
What would you do differently?:

Enter a faster time for the event. It seemed that many of the people in my group were not "6 min" people. I entered a 6 min time, but actually averageed around 5:40 while training the past few weeks. I passed people but also was passed. Had people in front of me that swam in the middle of the lane that kept me from making a pass. It is easier to maintain a faster pace than sprinting around people. At the end of the event, was slowed down by two people who I was not able to pass due to them swimming in the middle of the lane.
Transition 1
  • 02m
Comments:

Wasn't able to get my feet in the pedals. Slow start. Even getting my shoes and helmet on felt funny.......not sure what i was doing.
What would you do differently?:

Practice with shoes already on bike. Swim with a shirt on.
Bike
  • 32m 19s
  • 10 miles
  • 18.57 mile/hr
Comments:

The small hills slowed me down.....not able to address and change gears in good timing. But, I started the bike at 17 to 18mph. Ramped it up to 18 to 19mph about half way and then bumped it up to 20mph for the last 5 to 7 mintues. Much harder bike ride than any training runs and felt great on the bike. Really pushed it.
What would you do differently?:

I had more energy than anticipated. I would have like to have started out in a higher speed. Will train harder in my interval training. Need to find out how to transition from swim to bike in a better heart rate.
Transition 2
  • 01m 22s
Comments:

Dismount area was right around a corner and I was cooking at 21mph. Had to slam on mhy brakes and my legs weren't there when dismounting. Took me a few seconds to get my legs under me. Wtih shoes on, had to walk my bike to the rack....I'm not running with shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

Will gear down 100 yards before dismount area. Will practice getting out of shoes prior to dismount.
Run
  • 46m 21s
  • 3 miles
  • 15m 27s  min/mile
Comments:

Knee inury/rehab......Dr's orders not to do any running.
Walked entire run except the last 100 yards.
What would you do differently?:

Run!!!
Post race
Warm down:

None. Felt great to finish 1st Tri.
Was starving and had very little energy.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Did not complete interval training. Knee injury for the run.

Event comments:

Great race.

HR was very high.......160 from the swim. Couldn't get it down and I appeared to maintain a higher than normal speed at 18mph starting out.......higher that normal training times. But legs didn't hurt and I felt fine maintaining this pace. Had GU packet at 24 mintues.

Course: Wind was in my back for the first half, but didn't realize this until I put the gas on. But not a problem.....just a realization.
