Sunny
Total Time = 1h 58m 18s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = D
Age Group Rank = 28/38
Pre-race routine:

Had a good sleep. Likely not good to admit this but I had one glass of wine last night to make sure I slept... and I did sleep!

Coffee, peanut butter and whole wheat toast
Event warmup:

I basically just isolate myself
Swim
  • 18m 38s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 29s / 100 meters
Comments:

I really liked that I could find some open water.
As soon as I did bilateral breathing I would zoom by people.
I felt I could swim ,

Did a little bit of dolphin kick
this transition was easier than other events because it is not a long run
What would you do differently?:

more bilateral breathing...
maybe go slightly hard
Next year I would love to do the OWS training at Kelso but I also love the masters trainng this summer..
working on my techniques with coaches is good
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

I did sit down.
I know it is better to get nutrition on the bike so I was glad I did not get water
Bike
  • 54m 23s
  • 20 kms
  • 22.07 km/hr
Comments:

I think I only beat 10 people in the race...not everyone passed me this time. I tried hard to keep girls in my site and to catch up and chase when passed.
What would you do differently?:

would like to try bike shoes next year.
Plan to spin this winter and perhaps get a trainer
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

I had to take extra time because I noticed that my shoelace was too loose
Run
  • 35m 18s
  • 5 kms
  • 07m 04s  min/km
Comments:

I was pleased and surprised by my time.... but I know that I could make good gains over the winter with running. The weather today is my favourite for running... I was not all sweaty like runs here
What would you do differently?:

I need to keep practicing bricks next year.
I think joining the Harriers or mixing up training more would help with my run... but I was pleased .

It is harder to run with no music
Post race
Warm down:

just the walk back to the car

What limited your ability to perform faster:

still the bike I think but it was better than CL

Event comments:

I will do this race again. It was nice to meet Tina (the organizer) when I picked up my race kit.

My goal is to Pr this race... and the following year I want to try Olympic distance.
