Pre-race routine:

Got to the site early to set up, glad I brought a flashlight as it was very dark.Was the first bike in my rack so I was able to set up at the end of the row.

Swim wave was a little rough got kicked in the face once and grabbed a lot. For the most part I was happy with the swim and glad they had as many waves (8 I think) as they did.
What would you do differently?:

Try to start a little more to the outside and avoid the mass pile of bodies.

Longer than usual ( at least what I am use to) run from dismount to rack. That said I was fortunate that my rack was lot closer to the bike in/out than many others

Got hot very quickly but for the most part I was happy with my run. Of course, like everything else I would love to be able to go faster.

Event comments:

Overall I thought the organizers did a pretty good job. There could have been a little more lighting in the transition area in the morning but other than that everything ran pretty smooth. Of course, I do wish they had beer at the end of the race (need to maintain my Clydesdale figure) but since it was a State Park I understand the limitations.

Course: About half the course was on the sand. The majority of the sand was fairly hard packed with shell although there was a pretty stretch of just standard white beach sand. Final 1/2 of the course was on pavement.
