Pre-race routine:

Got up at 3:00am and had a bagel. Loaded up my car to head down to transition by 4:15am. Set up transition then picked a spot out on the grass by the swim start to lay down and relax. About 6am I had a banana. Before my 9:00am start I had a powerbar (8am) and 3 shotbloks (immediately before swim start)
Swim
  • 37m 8s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 16s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good swim for me. I got caught up in the start and had to try and swim past a lot of people which wasn't very fun and cost me time.
What would you do differently?:

Start out in the beginning of my wave.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

My suit got stuck around my heels (due to the zipper cord) while taking it off. Had to figure out a way to un stick it without ripping my suit.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure wetsuit zipper cord is safely out of the way
Bike
  • 1h 29m 35s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 16.64 mile/hr
Comments:

Everything in this triathlon started going downhill on the bike. My HEED was warm (unbearable) and I only had 1/2 a bottle on the bike. Had a 20+ mph average on the first leg of the bike only to drop off quickly.
What would you do differently?:

Proper hydration & nutrition
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Had to walk T2 as I was so fatigued getting off of the bike
Run
  • 1h 35m 32s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 15m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

I had to walk most of the run. I got dehydrated on the bike and overhydrated during the run. I couldn't keep up a run/jog pace for more than a minute before I felt like my legs were going to give out.
Post race
Warm down:

Finished, got a cold towel, sat down, and puked.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Heat, hydration, nutrition

Event comments:

Great race & course that was hampered by the heat.
