Pre-race routine:

drove for 85 minutes in the predawn darkness. pottied. A first for triathlons, I did a shot of bourbon. I hadnt really planned on doing this race but peer pressure made me do it. I was in it more for the exercise than to set any records.
Event warmup:

quick run around the parking lot, then a few strokes in the lake
Swim
  • 15m 29s
  • 1094 yards
  • 01m 25s / 100 yards
Comments:

my sighting was much better than at my recent HIM. This was pretty easy - I was on a casual swim but it felt fine
What would you do differently?:

more shots of bourbon. new PR (although it was only 1000m)
Transition 1
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

nothing exciting here
Bike
  • 1h 19m 57s
  • 24.8 miles
  • 18.61 mile/hr
Comments:

what can I say other than I dont like the bike, I hadnt been on the bike for any length of time post HIM, I dont like the bike, I dont like the bike. Did I mention how much biking sucks?
What would you do differently?:

run, it is almost faster
Transition 2
  • 01m 9s
Comments:

nothing excciting here
Run
  • 47m 19s
  • 6.55 miles
  • 07m 13s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt like I was out for a jog, smiling and high fiving people. I didnt have any goals. I never tried to push the pace, I just settled into a comfotable cadence. This was fun and dare I say easy. I didnt get anything from any aid station, never got passed and passed a few people.
What would you do differently?:

I guess I should have run a little harder but I can live with myself. I did crush my previous best and set a PR on pace/mile eventhough the race was longer.
Post race
Warm down:

change clothes, grab a pepsi, find david get bourbon for the pepsi

What limited your ability to perform faster:

well I didnt train for this race, didnt plan on doing the race until 48 hrs before. I was out to have fun and normally that doesnt include redlining and going hard at any point.

Event comments:

Nice way to coast into the off season setting PR on swim and run.

Olympic Mini - the Mullet of triathlons, short on the front and long in the back.
