Swim
Comments: I felt pretty good in the swim. Managed to freestyle the entire way with some pretty ugly flip turns. I just wanted to pace myself and not be exhausted coming out. What would you do differently?: I saw a video of myself swimming and can see lots of room for improvement. Overall I could have pushed a little harder. Transition 1
Comments: The transition area was small and easy to navigate. I felt very quick in my transition and had no issue getting shoes/socks on. What would you do differently?: Run faster with bike. Bike
Comments: I took my time getting up to speed as I left the transition area. I had some water and some gu (yuck!) I really enjoyed my bike although I was very cold from the swim. It was raining when I started out and took me awhile to warm up. I did not have a long shirt or jacket since it was supposed to be much warmer that day with no rain! Over all though a great course for me. Some minor hills, but a nice easy pace. Paseed a few people on the way. What would you do differently?: Looking back I definitely could have pushed myself moreon the bike. I was a bit conservative since the run is my weakest event. Also could have established a decent pace much sooner. Transition 2
Comments: Again this is a guess. All I did in T2 was rack my bike, remove my helmut and have a few sips of water. I was right at the exit for the run. What would you do differently?: Nothing really, I actually felt that I could take a few extra seconds to have a quick bit of water. Run
Comments: I consider the run my weakest event so I was actually very impressed by my time. I felt like I was crawling through the movements. I walked when I received my water at the stations (twice) but only for a few seconds. I am still not convinced that I ran this fast. My right foot was numb for the first half and by the time I rounded toward home my legs were on autopilot. When I saw my family and friends there waiting for me it was really moving and I was able to finish strong. What would you do differently?: More run training in off season Post race
Warm down: Lots of walking, talking, hugs and high fives. Overall the experience was terriffic. Also, I could not stop eating for the entire day! What limited your ability to perform faster: Mostly just not knowing how much gas I had in the tank. I definitely could have pushed harder, but I was unsure how I would finish. Event comments: I think this was a perfect first race. Everyone was very helpful on the course. I highly recommend this as a first time race for anyone. Last updated: 2010-09-27 12:00 AM

This was my first tri and a great one to start with since it was small and informal. I was very nervous having no idea what to expect. My girlfriend and I signed up together and arrived to set up at 5:15. Another friend of our is a more experienced triathlete and her help was invaluable. I am not a good morning eater, but forced myself to eat a yogurt and peanut butter bagel around 5am. Then Gatorade and water after that.
Lots of walking (pacing) back and forth. No real warm up for the race.
