Pre-race routine:

got early enough to pick a good spot in transition on the end of a row. Had race wheels on and tires pumped up before leavin the house so I could just grab my backback and bike and head straight to transition.
Event warmup:

went for a 4 mile bike, then a 2 mile run, then a 5 minute swim - to get warmed up.

tried really keeping the pressure on for the run. got passed by a guy inmy AG who was 47 and it felt like I was walking at the speed he passed me. The 1st place female passed me at the same pace - demoralizing! saw tried to reel in more people on the run, and saw someone with a 45 on his calf and tried reeling him in. Finally did at the last 100yds, which bumped him down to 3rd place, so I found out later. Had no idea what placement I was in the race, but felt like I was close to the front.
Post race
Warm down:

walking around to loosen the legs, grabbed water, ate 1/2 a bagle

What limited your ability to perform faster:

the wind on the bike, wore the legs out for the run.

Event comments:

Fun race to end the season. 4 weeks post-Ironman I wasn't sure how I'd do, but felt like I was ready to race. Results shows I was ready. YEA!
