Pre-race routine:

up at 4:30, walked the dog quickly, ate 1/2 a salt bagel and drank 1/2 a cup of coffee and a glass of water. drove to the max, max downtown, waited in a parking garage cuz it was POURING, by the time we hit the start line we were SOAKED

Event warmup:

none

Comments:

well. i felt pretty crappy for a bunch of the race. it was a combo of being drenched before we even hit the start line (including squishy shoes) and not bringing 2 gels with me (wrongly assumed they'd have gels out there) i needed a second one at mile 9 but had gummy bears instead whcih didn't digest well.
What would you do differently?:

not sure, all the things i could control i did, but being sick this week and then being soaked and running on a super boring uninspiring course with no spectators at the end really added up for me. i'm really glad i had a 1/2 PR in july because this one wasn't one. i don't think i'll sign up for this 1/2 again needless to say (it was the 1st time for the 1/2 and definitely didn't live up to my experience of the full)

Post race
Warm down:

candy, string cheese and 1/2 a bagel and OJ at the end, walked to the max tried to walk around while waiting for the train. came home and took a hot shower to warm back up.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

sciatica, not having any friends or family or mark there to watch, being miserable in the rain.

Event comments:

because of the course i had to give it an average, everythign else was great.

Performance:
Course: the course for the 1/2 was TERRIBLE. boring, ugly, etc. but the worst part was feeling like i was all by myself out there for the last 2-3 miles-- not many other runners around and zero spectators until you hit the finish chute.
