Swim
Comments: Chaos. 6 lengths, one lane rope and lots of bodies in the water. Some cramping in hamstrings, but a quick grab of the wall at the end of each length helped with that. I think this time includes time to return to transition to get goggles. Transition 1
Comments: T1 (Run>Bike) was very smooth. I was first to setup in transition so I had the end spot right at the bike out which was especially nice considering the poor condition of the transition surface. Bike
Comments: Felt very strong. Rode the course previous weekend, so knew what to expect. too a lot of people on the hill each of the three times. congested for the last two laps due to short loop and wet, puddly conditions. some cramping in calves. What would you do differently?: hit the hill harder. Transition 2
Comments: Forgot goggles, had to go back. I think this time was reflected in my swim time. Run
Comments: Got stuck at the back of the start and took me a while to get out from behind the slower runners. In the end this might have been a good thing as it likely saved me from going out too strong. Ran an extra .4 miles due to unmarked turn. found a good pace (~7:45) and felt very strong. What would you do differently?: better spot closer to MOP for race start Post race
Event comments: The biggest race organization problems that I will chalk up to this being an inaugural event could have easily been avoided. Clear pre-race instructions, one volunteer or sign and one additional lane rope would have resolved 90% of the confusion. Maybe next year. Last updated: 2010-10-24 12:00 AM
