Pre-race routine:

First triathlon. I don't have a routine!
Event warmup:

Did almost no warmup. Missed pool warmup, and so just did some jogging with sandals on. No biking at all.
Swim
  • 09m 42s
  • 437 yards
  • 02m 13s / 100 yards
Comments:

Was a little overwhelmed by situation. It didn't feel too real. Form probably wasn't great. Certainly not used to getting kicked and touched by people. Was also getting tired.
What would you do differently?:

Need more swim speed and tempo work. My arms were feeling some fatigue. Also need more confidence from race experience.
Transition 1
  • 03m 38s
Comments:

Pretty poor time. I had trouble getting my socks on because my feet were still too wet. Plus it was a pretty long way from pool to my bike. I was still feeling a little strange after the swim and just had a slow transition. Maybe I don't need socks, and maybe I should clip shoes into pedals.
What would you do differently?:

Consider going sockless and with shoes clipped into pedals. Also consider if having race number belt is a good thing and whether to wear shirt during swim.
Bike
  • 30m 40s
  • 10 miles
  • 19.57 mile/hr
Comments:

Did OK for first bike race. Wasn't sure if I was going too hard or not, but turned out OK.
What would you do differently?:

Go just a bit harder.
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

Had some congestion trying to rack my bike. Guy next to me standing around recovering with stuff spread everywhere. Pretty much came to a stop to get off my bike.
What would you do differently?:

Try taking feet out of shoes while still on bike. Consider running without socks?
Run
  • 21m 6s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 06m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

Could have been better mile markings and at least one more water station. I really didn't know how fast I was going. It of course felt very different than a stand-alone 5K.
What would you do differently?:

Ran just a bit harder.
Post race
Warm down:

None.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Transitions. Fear during swim plus poor swim ability/skill. Not knowing how hard to push in all 3 segments.

Event comments:

I would do it again. Only the 2nd annual. Volunteers were a bit clueless and things were behind schedule. No recorded T2 time because some moron had bikers NOT come over the mat on way back in.
