Pre-race routine:

Got up at 5:00 and ate a PB&J and sipped on Heed. Got all the kids up and loaded up the car. Set up transition and talked to a few friends.
Event warmup:

Toke bike out for a quick spin and then a short run and stretched. After this I got the wetsuit on and went for a quick swim. Sprint started about 20 min before oly. start.
Swim
  • 26m 27s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 37s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good swim overall. Started out on the beach witha running start. I started out on the outside to stay out of the mix. This worked out fine. Open water from the start. Good sighting but got a little off course a few times but not to bad. Course is easy to follow rectangle. Effort level was about a 6 out of 10. Happy with pacing. I was never out of my comfort zone.
What would you do differently?:

Sight a little better and swim a little faster.
Transition 1
  • 01m 55s
Comments:

Good T1 for me.
What would you do differently?:

Need to get Wetsuit off faster but ok.
Bike
  • 1h 10m 30s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 21.15 mile/hr
Comments:

Ride went as planned. PR for the bike at an oly. race.
Transition 2
  • 00m 53s
Comments:

Perfect
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 48m 40s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run for me. Wanted to keep pace at about 7:30 per mile but that did not work out. But overall at 7:45 per mile is still a PR for oly. race. Felt good for the first 4 miles pace was at about 7:30 to 7:40. The last 2 miles I slowed up a bit and had an average of about 7:55 per mile.
What would you do differently?:

I need to continue to work on pacing for the race.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around with wife and kids.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

FItness. But it is getting better.

Event comments:

Good close to home race. I like this race becasue it is fast and flat for both the run and bike. I will be back next year.
