Pre-race routine:

Had 1/2 of a bagel 2 hours before race start, banana 1 hour before, and i serving shot blocks 10 minutes before. I was ready to go!!
Event warmup:

Really no warm up here. Set up transition and talked to my family and friends and waited for my wave to be called.
This race is totally different that last year. Swim course different (and the opposite direction) so I don't know if it was the same length. Bike was several miles shorter because of gas drilling and a freshly tarred and chipped part of the road. Still had all the good hills plus a few more. The run was also different, with a different loop, so don't know how close in distance to last year this part was.
Swim
  • 13m 52s
  • 500 yards
  • 02m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

I was ready and dove right in when my wave started. If course, I immediately got passed by nearly everyone, but I was okay with that because I felt good and confident. We specifically had to WALK over the transition mat which I found odd.
Transition 1
  • 01m 49s
Comments:

The new run to transition was long! And the transition area was gravel! Not happy about that. But, I was lucky and had an assigned spot just inside the entrance and close to bike out/in and run out.
Bike
  • 57m
  • 12 miles
  • 12.63 mile/hr
Comments:

This is a very hard bike course. People were swearing and complaining about the course every where. I just sucked it up and got it done! I passed a bunch of people, which made me smile :-)
Transition 2
  • 00m 38s
Comments:

Running into transition, in bike shoes, down hill, over gravel was not easy. I got passed by someone in tennis shoes, which made me mad!!
Run
  • 29m 30s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

It was hot by the time I got to the run. Took water everywhere it was offered! I was sweating like crazy but kept at it.
Post race
Warm down:

Had a gatorade, water, shower, and went for the yummiest BBQ!

Event comments:

This is a fun small-town race in its second year. Like I said, every leg was different from last year so I can make no real comparisons regarding performance. It was better organized this year, and better bike racks. I will definitely keep doing this race.
