Gotta love swimming down river. Was a bit chilly before the race but once I was in the water felt fine. I stuck pretty close to shore. Didn't get the fastest current that way but my swim training sucked so I wanted to be close in case something went wrong.

Felt good throughout the swim, sighting was good, swam consistently.

4 loop course in a big rectangle. Going out and to the left there was crazy wind, pace slowed to 14mph or so, everyone was struggling. The long leg on the way back was awesome, speeds over 21mph and easy riding.

The wind really cooked my legs, tried not to work them too hard but it was hard to maintain any sort of pace in that wind.

Absolutely terrible!

I worked hard on running this summer and was looking forward to this run. Unfortunately all that run training meant I didn't ride nearly enough, my legs were cooked when I got off the bike. Also, like a dummy, I decided to use the HEED they were passing out for nutrition, found out I can't stomach HEED, ended up puking a lot.

Did okay for the first 6 miles. But I had had a nagging back issue for the last month or so, it decided to hit hard on the last 6 miles. Couldn't run due to the pain so I had to walk, a lot. Then it got freakishly hot out so I was one miserable guy.

Thought about cutting the race short and just going home but decided I wanted to finish even though my time was not going to be great.

Managed to take 30 minutes off my first HIM time but I left a lot of time out there on the run. Will most likely do this race again and hope for a better run.
