Total Time = 1h 08m 17s
Overall Rank = 148/627
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 16/35
Pre-race routine:

Woke up, had a Clif Bar, drank some water, drove over to the high school, set up my transition.
Event warmup:

Nothing much, a bit of light stretching
Swim
  • 06m 37s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

Passed 10-15 people and never got passed. My seeding time was perfect (1:30 for 100m) but everybody around me seemed to not have seeded themselves properly.
What would you do differently?:

Zip my top all the way up, ended up swimming with a parachute once water made its way in and unzipped my top.
Transition 1
  • 02m 2s
Comments:

Zipped the suit top while running then removed cap and goggles while running. Put on my helmet and sunglasses, grabbed my bike and ran to the exit. Did a flying mount for the first time in a race and it went alright, not great, but definitely cut off some time for my transition.
What would you do differently?:

Pretty perfect transition, for me.
Bike
  • 33m 39s
  • 10 miles
  • 17.83 mile/hr
Comments:

Probably could have pushed a bit harder into some of the headwinds and taken the corners/roundabouts a bit faster. Overall I'm pretty happy with my performance though.
What would you do differently?:

Speed through the corners, maintain a higher cadence, sometimes I forget to keep up the cadence.
Transition 2
  • 01m 50s
Comments:

Another good transition for me, though I got about 2 steps away from my transition area and realized I didn't have my race number, so I had to go back and get that, probably 10-15 seconds lost.
What would you do differently?:

Remember my race number.
Run
  • 24m 7s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

Excellent run for me. PR'd my standalone 5k by about 3 minutes (though the course might have been a bit short). Tried to speed it up every mile.
What would you do differently?:

Overall excellent run for me, not much to complain about.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around while waiting for my brother to finish, had a banana and some water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Wind on the bike course really killed me and a lot of others.

Event comments:

I love this course and race overall, will be back next year for number 4!!
