Run
Comments: Had a goal of breaking 1:50, got close. Started with Ken at the 1:50 mark. Sweet start downhill grade for first mile and half or so. Nice but we will pay for it. The downhill lets the crowd spread out a little more quickly. After a 1/2 mile there is a good room. Its a closed road course and well patrolled. Passing some and getting passed. Ken goes up the side and is ahead a little bit. Lose track of him around the 3rd mile. I decided not to wear my 305. I kinda regret not having the pace info and the miles markers are hard to see since they are flying by so fast. Ha. I had my marathon timex to pace the miles off it works. I started to realize yesterday I was a little dehydrated and didn't do enough about it. Couldn't wait for the first aid station. Phew. Walked 50 feet and took off. 3 mile at a 24:18 sweet pushing well. At the 0K mark look at watch and PR my 10K time by a minute. OK there are hills ahead and they are going to hurt. Stop at every rest stop to drink a cup of water pick up a gel at at mile 6. Long 1/2 mile hill then some up and down in Highland park. Then across to Mt Hope Cemetery Rest stop then up 50yds of cobbles up hill fun things to throw in there. Some up hill but the reward of a mile downhill grade. Sweet and split out a 8:08 to make up for those 9:00 mile miles during the hill. At ten miles it is looking good to hit close to 1:50. Down along the Genesee River for 2.5 miles then up to the home stretch. I got not much left. But in auto pilot and mentally move along. 1/4 mile out I feel the rush of finish and bring it home well. 30 seconds short of my goal. I'll take it. What would you do differently?: Be a little more hydrated to start with. Wear the short sleeve shirt I had on for a minute. Post race
Warm down: Found Ken after getting a couple cups of water. He got a cramp in the cemetery and finished a minute ahead of me. Walked a little bit. Talked to Jim and Heather, found Tanya. We hit the chow line. Missed Mike and Julie coming in. We saw Kara cross the line, gave her a bottle of water and she took off to see a friend. We looked for Mike and Julie, shagged Kara and headed home. Event comments: It was good race with lots of excitement and energy. Last updated: 2011-03-26 12:00 AM

Up at 5:15 to get ready. Ken was picking us (Kara & I) at 6:00am for 7:30 start. Slept marginally well.
Had a lousy cup of instant coffee, whole wheat roll and grape juice.
Got to site at 6:45 whit time to visit the boys room. Met up with Julie than Mike, Heather and Jim.
Decided to wear long sleeve tech shirt, shorts and sock with shoes. Put a piece of athletic tape over blister.
Walked to start line, light stretch and bouncing.
