Age Group Rank = 1/15
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5:00. Ate breakfast, bathroom, etc. Left for the race around 5:30 or so.
Event warmup:

Set up transition. Ran about a mile with a couple of pick ups trying the legs loosened and warmed up. Legs felt really tired the last couple of days, so I was trying to get them to snap out of the funk they were in. Swam about 100 yards or so. Stretched and waited for the start.
Swim
  • 06m 23s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 27s / 100 yards
Comments:

Longer run than last time into the lake before having to swim which is one of the reasons I had a better swim time. Found some feet to draft off of after the first buoy and stayed with him for about 100 yards or so then I lost him. Overall pretty happy with the swim.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Transition 1
  • 01m 28s
Comments:

Run into transition was slower thann last time by 11 seconds. Not sure why. Felt like I was hustling pretty good. Could be the dead legs I have had the last couple of days?
Even after rubber banding shoes, they still flipped over before I mounted which slowed my bike mount.
What would you do differently?:

Need to find a better way to rubber band shoes.
Bike
  • 30m 37s
  • 10 miles
  • 19.60 mile/hr
Comments:

Again legs felt a little tired on the bike, but my overall bike time was a bit faster than last race, so I guess I did better? But, see run....I might have geon a bit too hard on the hills at the end.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing....maybe ease up a little more towards the end?
Transition 2
  • 01m 3s
Comments:

A little bit faster than last time, simply because I went sockless.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, except maybe not go sockless. See run....
Run
  • 22m 18s
  • 3.12 miles
  • 07m 09s  min/mile
Comments:

Decided to hammer the hills at the beginning of the run instead of taking them easy like I did last time. Bad idea....I was 51 seconds slower than last race. Not 100% sure if it was the going hard on the hills or just the overall dead leg feeling I've had.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe take it a little easier on the hills and mimic how I ran the run last time.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Run training and overall tired feeling.

Event comments:

Good race. Looking forward to another PR at next month's race.
