Swim
Comments: I breathe so much faster during races than in training. Felt like I was probably going too fast for me, but was able to keep it since the swim was so short. Need to pace better at the Olympic distance race. Took about 30 seconds of my swim time from the last time I raced this course. Transition 1
Comments: They moved the T1 timing line from just outside the transition to the swim exit. Gives a better picture of the swim time. Big issues with my shoes in the pedals. Right shoe unclipped from the pedal as I jumped on. Pulled to the side and got my shoe on. Then the rubber band holding the shoes horizontal wouldn't break. Total disaster. Wasted probably 45 seconds to a minute of the bike time. What would you do differently?: I have to figure out how to deal with the shoes/pedals. My old shoes worked great. Bike
Comments: Disappointed with my bike time. I was able to keep my speed above 20 mph for most of the race, except the turn around points. I thought I would have placed better. For me to have had a better swim than ride is very confusing. Maybe the lack of wind brought up the performances of the other riders. 19.5 mph is about an average race ride for me. What would you do differently?: I don't know. After my race in two weeks I will hit the gym for some leg strength work, since I have about 4 months before my next race. Transition 2
Comments: I always forget to grab the GPS before I rack the bike. What would you do differently?: GRAB THE GPS BEFORE I RACK THE BIKE. Run
Comments: Wow, the speed workouts have helped. Beat the last run on this course by 1:30. This is the first tri with sub 8:00 run. I am very happy with my improvement. What would you do differently?: Keep doing what I am doing. It seems to be working. Post race
Event comments: Goal was under 1 hour. Still have room to improve. Need to get my bike power up to run better than 20 mph. I thought I was there, but I wasn't. Disappointed in my placing, but very happy with my improvements. I guess you can't really expect to make big improvements in all disciplines. 30 seconds off the swim and 1:30 off the run are big steps in the right direction. Last updated: 2006-04-17 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5 AM. Ate a Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich. Got to race site at 6:00. Set up transition and then went to warm up.
Jogged to the restrooms. Then jogged back to transition area to strecth. Then went out for a little more jogging (.5 miles). Finalized my transition and moved to the swim entrance. Swam out and back twice, felt good in the water.
