Event warmup:

Swim
Swim
  • 08m 3s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 50s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good swim. Monster anxiety attacks but was able to breathe through them. Water was perfect (for me) and my stroke is very consistent. Got very frustrated with slower swimmers as I assumed I should have stuck to the back of the pack. Wore wetsuit but could have easily gone without one.
Transition 1
  • 04m 28s
What would you do differently?:

Not a lot different, just faster.....read a lot about it ahead of time and because I don't use special shoes it was pretty basic.
Bike
  • 57m 54s
  • 15 miles
  • 15.54 mile/hr
Comments:

Great ride for a novice!!
What would you do differently?:

Better bike....riding a hybrid is fine for now (no choice if I want to participate) but definitely would love to ride something that would shave serious time!!
Transition 2
  • 01m 58s
Comments:

Got there really early to rack my bike and that helped a TON!!
What would you do differently?:

Know where I was supposed to go to start the run-had no clue and that took time!!
Run
  • 31m 52s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 15s  min/mile
Comments:

OMG!! So much harder than I thought!! I mean, it's not as if I didn't know it was going to be hard but I was not ready for how hard it was on me. The route was fine and very flat but I sucked!!
What would you do differently?:

Don't wear a hydration belt, that was a terrible idea and it was mostly because I left the bike shorts on to save time! The belt slid constantly and was a HUGE distraction!! And getting the water in/out was such a waste also. I would have been fine had I hydrated on the bike more and just used the water stations on the run. The upside was that my recovery can be quick but when you walk that many times recovery don't mean squat!!
Post race
Warm down:

Walking, stretching, drinking

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Bike training need to be better, had a lot of setbacks in my training plan. I knew the run would be hard but I seriously underestimated but that will happen with the first race. And on the swim, I could have gone faster if I had placed myself in the wave better!!

Event comments:

The race is so very basic but very well organized. Was mildly disappointed in the lack of vendors or goodies but the cost was low for the event so it was a trade off. I will do this event again next year if all my ducks are in a row!!
