Overall Rank = 120/
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 8/9
Pre-race routine:

Wonder why I signed up for this race, walk slowly to the assembly area to preserve energy, and use th restroom.
Event warmup:

Stretch and wonder why I signed up for this.
Swim
  • 22m 16s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 29s / 100 meters
Comments:

I got off course twice and the folks in the boats told me twice to aim to the buoys more. I felt panicked at first when we started with all the people around me and not able to see anything. That was the first time I had ever been in open water racing.
What would you do differently?:

Do a better job sighting, relax at start and figure out how to swim in a group.
Transition 1
  • 05m 36s
Comments:

I pinned my number through both sides of my shirt so I had to take 2 safety pins off before I could put on my shirt.
What would you do differently?:

Buy a number belt.
Bike
  • 1h 37m 9s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 15.35 mile/hr
Comments:

The hill at the end was a big one.
What would you do differently?:

Train more. When I started my bike ride I lost my chain. I thought I had hit the gear shifter when I put the bike in the rack but did not think to check it out. I think I will get bike shoes too. I biked in my running shoes and they were soaked before the run started.
Transition 2
  • 00m 42s
Comments:

OK
What would you do differently?:

buy bike shoes
Run
  • 1h 09m 3s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 11m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

I walked a lot. At the end of the race it was a winding path up to the fort and was murder on me. I did not hurt myself so I am glad since I have done that a lot this year.
What would you do differently?:

Practice running after biking more.
Post race
Warm down:

Stand still to conserve energy, drink fluids, walk back to assembly area.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I was off track on the swim, the bike I have not trained enough for, and the run was the same thing

Event comments:

Really nice race and the people that raced it were very nice too. This was my very first triathlon so I am very excited that I was able to do this and I am looking forward to the 1/2 Iron Man in Augusta, GA in September.
