Overall Rank = 102/234

Age Group Rank = 17/25
Pre-race routine:

Go up at 5:00 after a short nights sleep. Quickly got our stuff together (this was Noemi's first ever triathlon) and waited for the baby sitter. Fro breakfast, I had 2 packets of instant oatmeal. I ate most of it and drank some water. We left the house at 5:35 and got to Sean's house just after 6:00. We then biked the 1/2 mile tot he race site.
Event warmup:

Minimal warm up. A little arm and shoulder stretching before the swim started. The weather was warm and I did not feel tight at all.
Swim
  • 07m 34s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 44s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim went very well. I passed 3-4 people during the swim, but I was never passed. I could have gone a little faster, but I decided that I wanted to conserve some energy for the bike and I am glad I did.

I was a little upset because my official swim time was recorded as 8:29, but I finished the swim in 7:34! The sensor for the swim was almost all the way to the transition area.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 1
  • 03m 11s
Comments:

Transition went a little slow. My official time was 2:16, but I added the run time from the swim tot he bike as I always consider that part of the transition.
What would you do differently?:

I need to work on this a bit to help make it flow better.
Bike
  • 31m
  • 10 miles
  • 19.35 mile/hr
Comments:

I am very happy with my bike ride. I usually ride around 14-15 mph, and here I averaged almost 20 mph. I really pushed on the downhills, using gravity to help me gain some speed.

My bike computer recorded the ride as 8.5 miles, not 10, so I probably was not going as fast as I thought. Even so, it shows me averaging 16.5 mph and I am happy with that.
What would you do differently?:

Push a little harder on the first lap.
Transition 2
  • 01m 40s
Comments:

This transition felt much smoother then than the first one.
What would you do differently?:

Happy with how it went.
Run
  • 20m 58s
  • 2.49 miles
  • 08m 25s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt good on the run. I was running strong the entire time. Again, I question how accurate their distance measure was because I didn't feel like I was going that fast, but it is possible.
What would you do differently?:

Run like I did in the future.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Experience about how hard I can push in a sprint without burning out.

Event comments:

The race itself ran very smoothly. My only complaint, was that it was very difficult to get any information about the race before the packet pickup the day before. No info on the website about courses. There was also very little direction for athletes as they arrived in the morning.
