Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4:10. Met friends around 5:30 and headed to Dover Speedway. Had a couple of yogurt bars on the way. We had 2 relay teams consisting of Shelleen and Christine, Orlando and myself. Russell ran the full marathon.
Event warmup:

Alot of jumping around waiting for the race to start.
Run
  • 1h 45m 11s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 08m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

I did the firt 13.1 and had the 20 MPH plus wind to my back. Orlando did the 2nd run and was against the wind. Bummer for Olando. there were probably less than 200 runners for this inaugural event. Hopefully next year there will be much more. There was water, gatorade and Hammer gels every 3 miles which was fine as the weather was cool. Christine strayed off course for about 1/4 mile as there was noone giving direction at that intersection.. There could be more signs and probably double the volunteers. The race director is aware.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I beat a PR for the 1/2 marathon that I set back in 2004.
Post race
Warm down:

Hung out with Shelleen and waited for the second team to come in along with russell the full marathoner.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

If I did more interval training I could have been faster. I am training for the Panama City Florida Ironman so I was not specifically training for a marathon relay.

Event comments:

This will be a better race as more people realize that it exists. It was not advertised very well.. I felt great the entire time and could not believe my mile splits. The Ironman training has payed off.

Performance: Good
Ran an extra mile to run Shelleen in.
Course: The first mile was around the actual speedway. Very exciting. The rest of the course was mostly flat. Some inclines of perhaps 1 1/2 percent but overall very flat and fast.
