Run
Comments: Everything went as planned. I resisted the temptation to sprint off at the start and just settled into a good pace that I could maintain throughout the race. I was concerned about the hills as all of my training had been on flat ground. During the race I did not worry about catching anyone or worry about where I was in relation to other in the race, just wanted to keep a good pace and finish in around 45 minutes. I kept up a 9 minute mile pace for the first 4 miles and then realized that I could beat 45:00 if I did a good pace for the last mile. I ended up finishing in 42:52 which was much better than expected and a full 2 minutes better than my previous PB so I was very happy with myself. What would you do differently?: Not a whole lot. Next year I would like to train more and get an even better time. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some water, banana and bagels then walked back up the course to meet up with my friend who was still walking the course. Walked about a mile with her till she finished the race. What limited your ability to perform faster: I could have been faster with more training but since I knocked off 2 minutes from my PB I am not complaining. Event comments: Race seemed well organized. Started about 15 mins late due to traffic issues but was not a big issue. Would be nice if they had a Clydesdale and Athena division. Last updated: 2011-12-07 12:00 AM

Got to the race early, checked my gear that I wouldn't be running with and then hung out with my friend up until the start. About 30 minutes prior to the start I lined up in my corral.
Did some light stretching to get muscles warmed up and walked around a bit so I was ready to go.
