Total Time = 2h 53m 58s
Overall Rank = 187/369
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 22/34
Pre-race routine:

Eat half whole wheat bagel
Event warmup:

About 100yrds swimming
Swim
  • 30m 26s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 52s / 100 yards
Comments:

Hung with the pack for most of the race. Crowded around buoys and along last length of rectangularly shaped course. i was surprised to hang with everyone, expected to be more off the back of the pack.
What would you do differently?:

Sight better. Look more often and keep fighting through around the buoys as opposed to stopping and trying to get out of the way of the masses.
Transition 1
  • 04m 6s
Comments:

A little slow, wet suit was a bit of a struggle. Bike had been knocked over and I did not see it and ran by. Did not do flying mount, lacked confidence (will practice more).
What would you do differently?:

If I was not wearing shoes, I could have run w/bike and gotten out quicker.
Bike
  • 1h 24m 37s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 17.62 mile/hr
Comments:

I was too concerned with going to hard early and potentially blowing up the run.
What would you do differently?:

Go harder, I left something here.
Transition 2
  • 02m 1s
Comments:

Almost crashed at dismount line. Lots of brake fade. Need to get pads checked/replaced.
What would you do differently?:

Left shoes on bike, and dismount barefoot.
Run
  • 52m 47s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 30s  min/mile
Comments:

OK run. First run off the bike this year. Watched pace carefully for first mile or so, then just went by feel. Had duct tape on existing blister on left heel, should have done the same for right foot.
What would you do differently?:

Duct tape both heels and try for a last mile push.
Post race
Warm down:

Sit down.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Inexperience at this distance and not enough bike training coming into the race.

Event comments:

Good event and definitely one I will look to do next year and perform to a higher potential
