Total Time = 1h 15m 43s
Overall Rank = 103/306
Age Group = 30-35
Age Group Rank = 10/18
Event warmup:

Easy half mile jog, nice long walk from the parking lot
Run
  • 13m 16s
  • 2 miles
  • 06m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt good on the run, but spent too much time getting around the pack in the beginning. Needed to stretch out my legs more to increase tempo.
What would you do differently?:

Need to move a little closer to the front, so I don't have to zig-zg to find a lane for the first 3/4 mile.
Transition 1
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

I was fortunate that I was able to maneuver away from a wreck in the first 25 feet. Need to get quicker with getting on shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Wear my sunglasses, even if on my head, during the run. Could have got them set and taken off the hat before even entering T1.
Bike
  • 47m 14s
  • 15 miles
  • 19.05 mile/hr
Comments:

Although my speed was up from my last race at this same course, I don't feel I cant sustain a high rate for a long time. I dropped my chain in the first 1/2 mile, but popped it back on and kept going. Definitely wanting to try aero bars, drops just don't compare.
What would you do differently?:

Just had the bike in the shop, but chain is still slipping in certain gears. Never felt comfortable going into the big ring after dropping the chain early on.
Transition 2
  • 00m 51s
Comments:

Moved in pretty quickly, but my hands finally felt the cold once I was no longer on the bike and I had a hard time with my helmet. Need to practice getting out of my shoes before I come off the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Put the race belt on from the start.
Run
  • 13m 14s
  • 2 miles
  • 06m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

Although my legs felt heavy, I was able to keep the turnover going. Had been having issue with my left knee "locking up", but it didn't happen today.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, really enjoyed the second run, I wasn't expecting to go sub 7:00/mi, but was able to on both first and second runs.
Post race
Warm down:

stretch and muscle milk

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Need to build power on the bike. If a tri-bike is not on my radar for a few years, I need to use my current bike to my advantage.

Event comments:

Great race, good course (minus the one section on the bike) and Out-Loud does a great job. Looking forward to next year.
