Swim
  • 05m 11s
  • 300 meters
  • 01m 44s / 100 meters
Comments:

I seeded myself at 4:45 which ended up being about right. I passed two guys who were too optimistic about their seed times. Overall a good swim. My true seed time should have been around 5:00 but I was assuming most people would see themselves in yard times.
Transition 1
  • 00m 50s
Comments:

All good except for the race number, which was pinned to my jersey and left on my bike, ripped from the pins when I put it on. Fortunately one or two pins stayed in and I didn't lose the number.
What would you do differently?:

Use a race belt next time.
Bike
  • 42m 42s
  • 13.8 miles
  • 19.39 mile/hr
Comments:

Overall felt good. I didn't work it overly hard though I did push up the hills to pass a number of people. A few fast people zoomed by me, though nobody in my AG.
Transition 2
  • 00m 47s
Comments:

I assumed very incorrectly where the dismount line would be so I had to coast way to far with both legs on one side of the bike ready to dismount.

My PI IsoTransition shoes are a bit difficult to get on quickly since they're a fairly tight fit.
Run
  • 22m 39s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

I didn't have my watch/footpod synched for the first bit of the race (and it's not hugely accurate), but I'm showing 7:07, 7:16, and 7:22 for 3.0 miles, averaging 7:14. When I first got the watch synched I was running at a 6:45 pace so next time I need to concentrate on not going out so hard.
What would you do differently?:

Concentrate on not starting the run too hard.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Need more bike training. When compared to the top 20 overall I was 9th on the swim, 20th on the bike, and 16th on the run. I'm clearly losing a lot of time on the bike. I figure I can make up 2 to 3 minutes on the bike, and another minute on the run if I train well.

Event comments:

Well organized and plenty of volunteers. Good timing company that posted results online immediately. Guys at work went online Monday morning after the race and found photos already posted. Though I'm not a big fan of chip seal, I'll do this one again.
