Pre-race routine:

Bagel with pnut butter, Banana, and water.
Swim
  • 06m 5s
  • 300 meters
  • 02m 02s / 100 meters
Comments:

Not much energy for the swim. Didn't get passed and didn't pass anyone.
What would you do differently?:

Getting swim coaching from Laure Ray at Peluso Open Water Master program. Hoping to see my times improve.
Transition 1
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

37th out of 133 males so not bad. Wore tri shoes for the first time but didn't attach them to pedals this time since I hadn't practiced or brought any rubber bands. Passed 3 or 4 people from my rack during T1.
What would you do differently?:

Could have been faster if I didn't have to put shoes on. Will be prepared for that next time.
Bike
  • 38m 46s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 19.24 mile/hr
Comments:

One of my slowest times on this course but only by a little. Over the last 6 races on this course I have gone from 37:07 to 38:46.
What would you do differently?:

Always my weakest area. It must be the bike. If I had a carbon frame with DA I am sure I would be much better ;)
I have not ridden as many hrs or distance this summer.
Transition 2
  • 00m 50s
Comments:

27th out of 133 Men. I had slipped out of my tri shoes before dismount and executed a moving dismount. Lost my left shoe during dismount somehow and decided not to go back and retrieve it. Ran to the rack and had a little trouble getting my cold, wet, feet into my shoes. The insole in the shoe bunched up a little up front but smooth back out aver the first mile.
What would you do differently?:

Practice shoes off and dismounts. Leave towel out to dry feet. Powder in running shoes.
Run
  • 24m 32s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

Decent run but I could have done better. I don't remember anyone passing me and all the people I passed were much slower that I was so there was no motivations for the chase.
What would you do differently?:

Run harder and push myself.
Post race
Warm down:

Ended up with 3rd in my AG - M45-49. I thought I was 4th because I didn't realized that one of the guys in the AG got picked up in the Masters category. I would have been really surprised when they called me up to the podium but I missed out because I had to leave at 10am.

Event comments:

Great race and venue. The Sept date is much better than the old July date.
