Event warmup:

Got dropped off with a friend and we spent about 20 minutes trying to stay warm before the start. It was too cold to break from the crowd for a warmup, so I skipped it. Fortunately the time went by pretty fast, but it was brutal with a wind chill of -15!

Comments:

The race wasn't chipped time, so this is the time from my Garmin.

It started out pretty fast, feeding on the crowd and the first bit was pretty flat. The middle 1.5 miles or so were quite hilly and I had to walk a short bit up the biggest hill. After the road leveled out I just tried to keep my short steps fast and consistent. My legs were quite cold and I couldn't feel my muscles, so that might have helped a little bit. Once we were over the last hill I hauled butt to the finish. I actually ran a bit better than I thought it would with the very cold day, so I am happy.

COLD!

Event comments:

Race was good. I don't usually do untimed races, so that is a bummer but it was meant to be fun and it was. I am glad I didn't wimp out, but boy was it cold!
