Swim

  • 440 yards
  • 01m 42s / 100 yards
Comments:

Went out on the swim to hard. Destroyed my T1 and gave problems to start of bike. However, this was the very first swim to bike transition that I have had. Overall, very impressed with my time in the swim. I thought this would be the worst of the three events and it was my best.
What would you do differently?:

Try to pace a little better and concentrate on better breathing.
Transition 1
  • 03m 32s
Comments:

It was a long run from the water to the bikes. The run through the sand put a hurting on me. I was extremely slow during the transition compared to other times. Need to work on leaving shoes on bike and mounting. Never practiced before. Also need to ditch the socks.
Bike
  • 26m 32s
  • 8 miles
  • 18.09 mile/hr
Comments:

The first half of the bike was an effort to bring my breathing back under control. Had a near miss with a squirrel, watched it bounce off the front wheel.
What would you do differently?:

Push harder.
Transition 2
  • 02m 2s
Comments:

Unclipped to early, about 10 feet from marker. They had two markers, one that stated to slow down and the other was the unclip line. I simply got confused. Need to practice dismounting and leaving shoes on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Work on dismount

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Poor transitions. Lost at least one place in Age Group and potentially 7 overall if I could have reduced transitions by 1 minute.

Event comments:

Very good first experience. I am hooked now and have already signed up for my next one.
