Total Time = 48m 42s
Overall Rank = 104/370
Age Group = 20-24
Age Group Rank = 3/7
Pre-race routine:

Got up at 450, had a banana almond smoothie, got my stuff into the car and left.
Event warmup:

Was all set to warm up in the pool, but let my nerves get the best of me....was too intimidated to jump in.
Swim
  • 08m 53s
  • 437 yards
  • 02m 02s / 100 yards
Comments:

Was disappointed with my time. Really could have pushed a little harder. Felt good though, passed a couple of people, was only passed once or twice.
What would you do differently?:

Should have seeded myself in the 730 group. I was a little intimidated/unsure of myself so I was cautious and seeded myself in the 8 minute. My training times were all around 740, should have gone with 7:30
Transition 1
  • 01m 55s
Comments:

I was a little flustered, and thought my time would actually be worse then this. This is despite having the sweetest transition spot I could ever asked for....which was a relief because being my first triathlon, finding my stuff was something I was really worried about.
What would you do differently?:

Def should have invested in Yanks. I'm still using toe clip pedals with running sneakers, so until I upgrade, I will have to use them to get my shoes on quicker. Also I'm sure I wasted some time getting my jacket on, but really not sure I would skip the jacket next time. It was pretty cool out and the windbreak kept me comfortable. May have been worth the 5-10 seconds.
Bike
  • 19m 2s
  • 6 miles
  • 18.91 mile/hr
Comments:

I was really impressed with myself to be honest. This is by far my weakest area (or at least the area I am the most self conscious of). I was really happy with my bike performance. It's nice to see all those bike workouts pay off.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe could have pushed harder, but overall very happy wouldn't change much. Just going to keep training.
Transition 2
  • 00m 54s
Comments:

Was okay, was stuck behind a guy who was walking his bike back to the rack rather then running. If I had it my way would have ran passed him, but seeing as it was a tight squeeze and people were running to start their bike leg, I thought it safer to stay behind. I felt bad cause I could tell his legs were as wobbly as mine and he was just trying to stay up. Otherwise was okay, was worried about my handlebars being linked to the bike next to me so took some time trying to avoid that. Maybe could have hustled a bit more.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe be more ballsy and try and pass that guy. Trying not to get in peoples way though.
Run
  • 17m 59s
  • 2 miles
  • 08m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt pretty awesome through the whole run, despite going in with less brick workouts then I would have liked. I was really holding back on the swim thinking "i'll need that energy for the run" and I feel like I could have pushed harder. But I was still pleased, seeing as this is my pace for longer training runs.
What would you do differently?:

Pushed myself harder, it was only 2 miles.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, then to the car and back to get dry, clean cloths.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I think I was a little timid and not as confident in myself as I could have. Kind of held back where I could have pushed thinking I didn't have the endurance. All in all, for my first triathlon, I was pretty pleased with my performance. My goal was to finish in under 55 minutes, and I blew that goal out of the water. Can't really complain, but determined to swim faster next year. I was a little over 2 minutes short of number 3, I think if I pushed I could have been a little closer to that spot. Maybe next year.

Event comments:

This was my first triathlon, but based on some of the 5k races I've done, this race was very very well organized. Everyone, volunteers and participants, were super nice. I was really impressed.
