Pre-race routine:

Camped out in BellePlain the night before the race. rented a Yurt and got to bed early - slept pretty good, better than I thought that I would, but my stomach was acting up on me.
Event warmup:

Had a peanut butter sandwich and a gatorade then headed over to check in. Got my wetsuit on and swam a little, the water felt great, the weather was great.
Swim
  • 14m 45s
  • 402 meters
  • 03m 40s / 100 meters
Comments:

My last race I had to be pulled in the swim because of a panic attack. This time, I was hoping to stay relaxed and get into the groove, but that never happened. I started out breast stroke and was sucking air for the whole time. I couldn't catch my breath to start swimming freestyle.
What would you do differently?:

Need to take master's swim class and get OWS time more frequently! Need to also figure out what to do to keep relaxed.
Transition 1
  • 06m 39s
Comments:

Coming out of the swim, I thought that I was going to puke so I took a few more minutes in T1 to drink some gatorade and try to gather myself. (and not puke!)
What would you do differently?:

Given the situation - probably could have taken the first few minutes on the bike to recover rather than recover in T1
Bike
  • 1h 02m 34s
  • 15.2 miles
  • 14.58 mile/hr
Comments:

After the swim was able to get into the groove and was pretty happy with how it went.
What would you do differently?:

Would probably drink more on the ride and get to more spin classes.
Transition 2
  • 02m 22s
Comments:

Kind of had trouble getting my running shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

I needed to be a little more focused on what I needed to do.
Run
  • 43m 2s
  • 2.8 miles
  • 15m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

Knee was bothering me so I ended up walking more than I had wanted to.
What would you do differently?:

Naturally need to run more often!
Post race
Warm down:

Not much, just drank some gatorade and walked around with the family

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enough training!

Event comments:

Fun, low key race - would love to do it again!
