Pre-race routine:

Got up, had a bagel with cheese, grabbed a coffee to go and we were off!
Event warmup:

Once again, none, think I should change this routine and at least do a bit of a warmup.
Swim
  • 06m 25s
  • 250 yards
  • 02m 34s / 100 yards
Comments:

They did a great job on manually starting the timer and giving extra room for swimmers who obviously reported an incorrect swim time so I loved that. Not my best swim, couldn't get into a good groove, paused at the end of the lane for some extra breath on almost every lap.
What would you do differently?:

Train more before the race, I had been taking it too easy in the week before the race after finishing an 8k event the weekend before.
Transition 1
  • 01m 37s
Comments:

Very muddy from torrential downpours the night before, therefore too much grass and junk on my feet, had to take some extra time wiping them off before getting into socks/bike shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 47m 33s
  • 10 miles
  • 12.62 mile/hr
Comments:

Out and back course, relatively straightforward to remember and not too many turns. The course had several small rollers. The first half had two fairly long hills which I found tough but I managed. The second half was easier, more downhills which I used to rest a bit. Small hill right before entering into transition made my legs feel a little heavy for the dismount.
What would you do differently?:

Still need to work on my shifting.
Transition 2
  • 01m 16s
Comments:

Heavy legs from all those hills!
What would you do differently?:

Move faster :)
Run
  • 26m 38s
  • 2 miles
  • 13m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

I found it to be a hilly run course.
What would you do differently?:

Run more, spent more time walking than I thought I would.
Post race
Warm down:

sit in the car on the way home :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Hills, lack of training

Event comments:

First year for this race, I enjoyed it. Only 100 or so people participated but I thought they did a good job on timing the swim and the transitions were easy and straight forward. No problems on course, volunteers at every turn so no question on which way to go. Wish they had gatorade on run course. They had a computer where you could input your bib number and see your times but I like when they post the results so I can do some comparison to others. Overall in was a fun race!
