Overall Rank = 181/375
Age Group = 35 - 39
Age Group Rank = 29/57
Pre-race routine:

The weather was horrible ... it was raining all night and most of the morning. Brought trash bags to cover some of the gear but in the end it was useless.
Swim
  • 06m 16s
  • 300 meters
  • 02m 05s / 100 meters
Comments:

The swim was absolutely horrible. On the middle two lanes there was not much space to pass people up because people would be coming towards you in addition to the people passing. In some instances when passing the swimmer in front you would have to pass two swimmers and make sure you wouldn't hit the other swimmers coming towards you in the face. Again none of the swimmers where in the order they were supposed to be. Some people started in the first 50 slots and had to stop multiple times or swim back stroke or chest stroke. That defeats the purpose of asking for estimated swim times when registering for the Tri.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure there is anything i can do different.
Transition 1
  • 02m 28s
Comments:

The transition could have been a lot faster. Due to the rain all my plans had to get dropped. Couldn't get into the Long sleeve shirt and ended up only throwing the shirt on.
What would you do differently?:

Practice both dry and wet weather scenarios. Transition time could easily be cut another 1.5 minutes.
Bike
  • 23m 14s
  • 6 miles
  • 15.49 mile/hr
Comments:

Wish we could have done the whole course. The ride was not the fastest due to the wet conditions. I rode very careful and slowed down tremendously at the corners.
What would you do differently?:

More bike training ... need to get more comfortable in the aero position and utilize my leg strength. Need to replenish my electrolyte levels more often especially during the ride.
Transition 2
  • 01m 35s
Comments:

The rack broke while I was out on the ride ... took some time to rack the bike and get it up safe without taking down all the other bikes.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more to transition fast ... dry or wet conditions.
Run
  • 28m 24s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 08m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

Had some stomach cramps due to nutritional issues.
What would you do differently?:

Continue to work on pre-race and race nutrition.
Post race
Warm down:

Pancakes and stretching ....

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enough specific training due to the Marathon training over the winter break.

Event comments:

Overall a great race ... thanks to all the volunteers that came out even though it was raining cats and dogs. Very well organized as usual by Dallas Athletes Racing.
