Pre-race routine:

Work up WAY too early. A combination of a restless baby and an alarm that was accidentally turned out WAY WAY WAY too early resulted in not enough sleep.

Had a Diet Coke and a coffee to try to wake up. PB&J for breakfast and then stopped for a banana and Red Bull en route to the race.
Event warmup:

Other than the short walk from the car to the start line, we only did the exercises they arranged as a warm-up before we started.

Comments:

To say I was under prepared for this race would be a huge understatement. Deep down, I knew I should have switched to the 5K but I really wanted to give the 10K a try. My toe was still sore for several weeks after our Sprint in early September which prevented me from doing any training.

Race day, everything started out fine enough. Ran with my husbanded for a while. I was having shoe issues from the start and had to stop to re-tie it. Not long after, I noticed that my leg was sore from running with a shoe that was too loose and I told my husband to go ahead so I could walk for a bit.

The walking helped my leg a lot and I started to run again.

And so it went, run some/walk some.

Considering I was only able to start training for this a week ago, I'm not overly disappointed with my results.
What would you do differently?:

Train for more than a week to get myself to a new distance.

Also, I need to train my head that if I'm running, and I feel good, I'm going to keep running. My head seems to think that I need more breaks than I know my body actually needs.
Post race
Warm down:

Went and bought new shoes!!!!! Finally!

Turns out my old shoes were almost a size too small. This should be a huge improvement.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enough training.

Event comments:

Well put on race. Lots of volunteers!! Would have loved to see some of the earlier volunteers on the course a bit more enthusiastic but the once near the 5K turn certainly made up for it.

22 years this race has been on and they are doing a great job.
