Age Group Rank = 28/44
Pre-race routine:

Woke up 5am, ate banana and yogurt picked up friend and headed 30 min to race.
Event warmup:

Took at look at swim course and did some light stretching. Since I was using a wetsuit, got in the water for a couple minutes while all the waves began (mine was last wave)
Swim
  • 16m 33s
  • 820 yards
  • 02m 01s / 100 yards
Comments:

3-4ft waves made the swim the first buoy a bit difficult. After the buoy turn was relative easy swim to the last buoy. Because of height of waves found it actually fast to backstroke than freestyle until the final 50 yards.
What would you do differently?:

I was the second to last swimmer in the water. Probably a good idea since not a strong swimmer.
Transition 1
  • 02m 38s
Comments:

An extra minute wasted because of taking off wetsuit but probably made up for it having it on during swim. Was a bit of a run from swim exit to T1 which either made the swim time or T1 a little longer. I chugged a bit of water from my bottle because I did not want to on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Waiting to get completely out of water before starting to remove wetsuit
Bike
  • 38m 55s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 19.16 mile/hr
Comments:

Pretty good tailwind to begin, averaging about 24.5 mph and then no wind through park and then headwind, averaging between 20-21 mph. Fairly easy bike route but many turns that brought time down.
What would you do differently?:

If course was long would have brought water, decided to just hydrate at T1 and T2 instead. Need new wheels, only have stock wheels on nice tri bike.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Not really sure because it was added into the run time.
Run
  • 26m 1s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

Since there was no T2 time listed its assumed it was grouped in with the Run. I used my watch to time my run and it was about 24:00 and the time in the results was 26:01. Run time was okay. Usually complete a 5k run in around 21-22 min so it was okay after the swim/bike. Shoes also came untied which ate up about 20 seconds.
What would you do differently?:

faster cadence possibly, shoes not untied.
Post race
Warm down:

little stretching

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Only my second triathlon. Race and learn!

Event comments:

Had a good time considering the race venue was switched a month out.
