Swim
Comments: I jumped in and swam like hell! By the time I reached the first bouy, I was tired. I rounded the first bouy and thought, "There is no way I am going to finish this! I can't do this!" Then I started to calm down. I focused on stroke and hip rotation. I slowed down enough to catch my breath. I did good on sighting on the way out. On the way back I kept going left of goal. It got frustrating! For my first open water swim, I am not TOO disappointed! What would you do differently?: DON'T GO OUT SO FAST! I am not going to win the swim. Stop trying to in the first 100m! I need to work on sighting and swimming straight. Transition 1
Comments: I was more tired than I expected after the swim!. I got my goggles/cap off during my WALK to my bike. Had trouble opening gear transport bag. Did a good job getting socks and shoes on. My position was RIGHT AT the bike mount, so I elected to put shoes on and run bike to the mount. What would you do differently?: Run from water to bike. Prep bag better. Bike
Comments: I felt strong on the bike. I could have don't more but I didn't want to mess myself up for the run when I got done! I think I managed it very well. I was very glad that I reviewed the course the day before. It was good to have the route in my head and know where I was on the course. What would you do differently?: Could have took on more fluids on the bike. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: I am wearing knee brace. Need to put on shoes then brace, then run with hat, glasses, race number, etc. Run
Comments: My legs never felt right. I was hoping after a mile or so I would hit my stride but that never happened. What would you do differently?: Practice bricks more. Post race
Warm down: Waited until I got medal then drove 1 hour home and mowed the lawn What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training and lack of experience as this was my first tri ever. Event comments: This was a great race, esp for me as a noobie! Race management was professional yet too the time to personally show me the course. I am looking forward to another Nomad Multisport race! Last updated: 2013-05-20 12:00 AM
