Pre-race routine:

had 1 hour drive going with friends so we left early
Event warmup:

3/4 mile run then a 150 yard swim before event.
Swim
  • 07m 17s
  • 450 yards
  • 01m 37s / 100 yards
Comments:

my first open water swim of the year and nailed it. Took off fast and tried to stay on feet of guy in front of me. there was a 4 min. gap between waves and for the 1st time I did not run into slower traffic until about 3/4 of the swim it was nice. I could tell my swim fitness is down as I began to slow at 400 yards. I passed the front guy with 10 yards to go and was 1st into T1 from my wave.
What would you do differently?:

more swimming, I just haven't had time to swim this year like I need.
Transition 1
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

wetsuit off fast, helmet, glasses, and shoes on quick. most of the time was the run through t1
What would you do differently?:

nothing pretty fast for me just more practice
Bike
  • 38m 21s
  • 14 miles
  • 21.74 mile/hr
Comments:

miles 3-9 were tough I slowed a bit and just could not get it going. Once out of the wind last 5 were strong. Course was modified due to road work and added an extra mile. No one passed me the entire ride which surprised me since I felt I was struggling a little.
What would you do differently?:

More biking with intervals and club rides. I have just started the speed work so a little slow for now.
Transition 2
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

average T2 should be able to shave another :15 with better practice and more room kind of tight in there.
What would you do differently?:

nothing maybe had socks on before ride since my feet felt weird after riding barefoot in my new shoes.
Run
  • 21m 10s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran the best I could, nice thing I negative split the miles first mile was 7:18- last was 6:51 and no one past me.
What would you do differently?:

need to run more, I have not run more than 10 miles a week for the last couple months due to a foot injury.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of sprint training, I have only been training base work and all speed has been from races

Event comments:

Very nice race I will be back. They have a kids race before the adults which is fun and gets you pumped up seeing all those kids trying so hard. I liked the course and the people were great.
