Swim
Comments: Best swim to date. Felt very confident and in control in the water. Nice and relaxed with plenty of energy upon exit. What would you do differently?: Perhaps change sighting from 9 strokes down to 6 strokes to swim a straighter line. Transition 1
Comments: Nice T1. Clipped in HRM and watch signaled it was connected. No HRM or power data. What would you do differently?: Figure out why I have no heart rate or power data after the swim. Bike
Comments: Smoked a cheater that insisted on drafting, using drafts to pass me twice. Not doubt he was drafting has his distance to the bike ahead of him was less than 6 inches. Road him till burned out and then left him spent. Enjoyed this because if you are going to race then obey the rules. What would you do differently?: Fix use with HRM to provide better HR zone data for passing efforts. Transition 2
Comments: Long T2. Upon arriving to rack, found some knuckle head had put his bike in my spot. My rack was 273-280. My number was 279 and his was 283. Not only was he in my spot but he wasn't even in the right rack. Lost a minute or more moving his bike down so I could rack mine. What would you do differently?: Don't know. I'm not sure I am willing to go as far as to pull off someone's bike and trash it on the ground even if he is in the wrong rack. Guess I need to research this issue with USAT. Run
Comments: Slow run, dinner was really getting to me. Woke up at 3AM with nausea, and now I was really feeling the food poisoning. I slowed the pace in order to keep my stomach contents inside. The wife also got sick, so it was not an over-exertion. What would you do differently?: Not eat at Dixie Crossroads, stay with my sushi dinner from a good source, and take two charcoal caps as recommended by Ben. Post race
Warm down: Find a bathroom and get rid of the junk my body did not want anymore. What limited your ability to perform faster: Food poisoning? Event comments: Good organization, clear instructions, events on time, plenty of volunteers and police, nice course. This race is a definite for next year, probably at the olympic distance. Got to the race location at a decent time, got marked, set up transition, and then took pre race nutrition (2 tbsp coconut oil, 1 packet plain Generation uCan, 1 packet crane-raz Generation uCAn). Forgot X2 performance.
Did 1 mile warm-up run out on last mile of run course. Went to get the bike and due to the long check-in time, was told I may not be cleared back into transition before it closes. Had to skip the bike. Wait in corral for swim, and was able to get in a 5 minute warm-up swim just prior to wave start.
