Swim
Comments: Although I had wanted to end up on the outside, I ended up in the middle of the pack. That went better than I thought and I was actually able to draft up until the first buoy. Half way throught though my cap started to come off. I stopped and tried to put it back on, but couldn't in the water, and I ended up losing it and continued on. My time was worse than I thought it would be. Note that we were only timed in and out of transition at the bike exit, so the swim time includes T1. It was a long run in to transition. What would you do differently?: Learn to swim faster!!! Also, I think it went well considering I had no goggles on. Eventually I want to get to the point where I can wear goggles in open water without panicking. I also need to fix my eating and drinking before the race as I had some stiches during the swim. Transition 1
Comments: Time included with swim. Went well overall. I wish I knew how long it took though, so I could compare with others and get a base for improvement. What would you do differently?: The only thing would be skipping the bike gloves, but to me that feels like biking without a helmet. Bike
Comments: Definitely my strong suit. I thought I had done better though. I was passed by very few riders and did a lot of passing. What would you do differently?: Not much other that go faster. Transition 2
Comments: Time included with run time. What would you do differently?: Nothing, Run
Comments: Was quite slow until I downed a gel. I should have done that earlier (in the bike section) as I knew I was getting low as breakfast was at 7:30 Post race

The race site is 5 km from home so I rode down to the event for a bit of a warm-up. I got to Mooney's Bay around 8:00, racked my bike, and set out my stuff next to it. Then I went and watched the olympic event which started at 8:30. Mine didn't start until 10:10 so I had a bit of waiting around to do once the olympic swimmers were through T1.
Breakfast was at 7:30 - a bowl of raisin bran and two slices of toast. Also a small glass of O.J.
Biked 5 km to the event and did a 5 min swim just before the race.
