Comments:

well, not my best day in a pair of sneakers. Running in the fog (yes...100 humidity but not raining), and a head cold did not make for a fantastic run. My hr was higher than I expected for the paces. And it felt pretty hard. I was breathing VERY hard for the last two miles.
What would you do differently?:

I did stop for water at both aid stations, and probably should have skipped that. Slept like crap (hey...it's vacation...I was up late!) and should have tried to seed myself better. BUT...first really hard run of 2014 and since surgery WITH a cold...not too horrible. I expect those splits to drop a bit by spring. They'd better!!!
Post race
Warm down:

Met fellow EN'r Paul and his 15 yr old daughter who ran the 10K and both got on the podium! It was so nice that they stayed to meet me! I'll see him again in GR for the half early June. Met a few people in the beer line that were quite nice. Ate some oranges and chips, and had that yummy beer waiting for results. Then had a nice LONG assed walk wandering around Saftey Harbor looking for 2nd and 4th...streetS/avenueN or avenueN/streetS...seriously...it was like 40 minutes of Where's Waldo...and Waldo was my rental car! :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

LOTS! Mostly though I think it was the double whammy of my head cold and the very high humidity. Through in the month off of running for my surgery and yeah. ;)

I was hitting my TH paces in a few harder training runs and had hoped to run that for the first mile (not the second!) and get faster from there. That will be the plan for my next 5k. :)

Event comments:

I sure wish Trixie had been able to stay (luckily I ran into her as I walked to the race start!) but everyone was very nice that I met before and after the race. It was really nice meeting Paul and his daughter. There was GREAT music, food, beer and a decent expo for the race. Loved the venue. Don't know if I'll ever do it again though...my free lodging is moving to Denver! :)
