Event warmup:

200m swim plus stretch
Swim
  • 28m 15s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 53s / 100 meters
Comments:

Swim was long, garmin had it at 1730m and it was confirmed from other competitors as well because I was happy with my navigation. Felt a but sluggish at the start of the swim but seemed to warm into it and felt stronger at the end than the beginning which is a good sign.
What would you do differently?:

Top end speed needs improvement so I can get a better and cleaner start and get on some good feet.
Transition 1
  • 04m 33s
Comments:

Swim was moved from the ocean to the River so it was a 750m run from swim exit to T1!!!
Actual transition was fine once I finally got to my bike but it was added a lot of time to my race.
Bike
  • 1h 10m 4s
  • 40 kms
  • 34.25 km/hr
Comments:

Again like the swim I felt sluggish at the start but seemed to warm into it and felt better towards the end. Tough headwind on the way out but then had the wind helping for the return leg which is better than the other way around. Held a nice steady effort throughout and reasonably happy with the average speed that I held.
What would you do differently?:

Keep doing what I'm doing. Bike is steadily improving. Probably need to do more race pace and above race pace intervals.
Transition 2
  • 02m 3s
Comments:

No issues
Run
  • 47m 8s
  • 10 kms
  • 04m 43s  min/km
Comments:

Started the run pretty well but the hills and heat certainly kept the pace slower than I wanted it to be. I was probably on track for a 45min run but the final hill got me and I fell apart over the last 2.5km. Overall not a bad run considering the course and the conditions.
What would you do differently?:

Be fitter
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Heat and I don't think I got my taper right which is something I need to work on.

Event comments:

Great race, great course in an awesome location but the conditions certainly made it tough today.
