Pre-race routine:

Pack the night before so nothing to worry about in the morning. Oatmeal and juice for breakfast then on the road.
Event warmup:

No time today. Only had a few minutes. GPS took me another part of town so just made packet pickup and racked the bike.

Comments:

Started up with a uphill grade so getting my breathing right was tough. Very nice course with one tough climb. Challenging but fun.
What would you do differently?:

Better warm up. Now I know the location of the venue I'll get there on the first try.

Comments:

Pretty happy with what I did for the first time this year. I did use the shoes to hold the bike in the rack since it was on a slight grade. Didn't want it rolling off the rack when others took their bikes.
What would you do differently?:

Use something other than shoes to hold the bike in place

Consider a cross bike for next year. 29er was heavy in the climbs.
What would you do differently?:

cross bike.

Good race to kick off the year. Been a long winter here so might have done a little better but who knows. Good starting point.

Performance: Good
Course: Very nice course. Started off on tar then went into the woods. The run and bike pretty much used the same loop. The bike had two good climbs on it one loose gravel and somewhat rutted and the other was a longer steep section that most of the people I saw walked including myself. You ran and biked this hill twice and the bike had the additional hill before this one. Course was very well marked out with staff at some of the turns. Used a 29er but might consider s cross bike for next year. Good event and would recommend to others. Just be ready to climb.

Course: Nice course. Two stiff climbs, one just steep most people walked and the other was loose gravel but could be ridden. Some tar but mostly rolling woods. A few fun obstacles, no jumping logs just rocks to go around. Used a 29er and would consider a cross bike for next year.
