Pre-race routine:

Got up, had 1/2 a bagel and coffee. My friend's husband drove us to the Doraville MARTA station so we could ride the train down one stop to the Chamblee station.
Event warmup:

None, unless walking 2 blocks from the MARTA station counts. I figured I had 13 miles to get warmed up. The race started and we were still in line for the potty. It actually ended up being better since we didn't have to fight the crowd at the start (not like I was trying to qualify for anything anyway). But it made my time a difference of 8 minutes between the gun start and my chip time.

Comments:

It was sort chilly at the start but warmed up nicely once the sun came up. It was awesome to be running in Buckhead with the sun coming up.

I knew I had to keep my pace close to my training pace in order to run the whole time. My pace through mile 6 was 12min/mile, after that it was more like 12:30/mile.

I wore my water belt so I would be able to carry gels and not worry about where the water stations were. I only stopped at the first one, but I'm not sure why. I took a gel at 1 hour and again at 2 hours. The first one was apple cinnamon (yummy), the second was strawberry-kiwi (not so much). The second gel was definitely too sweet and gave me stomach cramps at mile 11. I also had to stop to pee at mile 9 and had to wait in line so that added about 5 minutes.

It should be against the rules to have a fairly steep hill at the end of a 13 mile race. Right before we made the turn to go to Turner Field we had to run up a hill behind the capitol building, that was tough.

I've also discovered that the endorphins from running make me act like I've had a couple of drinks. There's nothing like a runner's high to turn me in to a Chatty Cathy. And the annoying part is that half the people had music playing so I couldn't even talk to them, what a downer. Oh well, then I just moved on to someone else. I ran with a 13 year old boy for a little while but he was having a hard time keeping up so after chatting I wished him a good holiday and kept running. And he kept calling me m'am, um, I'm only 31!
What would you do differently?:

I don't know, run faster? I did what I wanted to do which was run the whole time and I finished. I didn't want to bonk at mile 10 so I think I kept a good pace for me. I rated this overall run as good since I made my goals and it was actually a fun race. And the weather was GORGEOUS!
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, got some powerade, my bag of food and sat down and waited for my friends to finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm naturally a turtle so that would limit my performance. My lack of experience at this distance definitely makes a difference. Now I know I can do it, I just need to work on getting my time down.

Event comments:

This is a good race. It was a fun way to start Thanksgiving. The weather was incredible which makes for a great day of running. The volunteers were awesome and I would definitely do this race again.
