Pre-race routine:

This was a 5:30 PM race. I spent the majority of the day, before and after the race, making breakfast for Church for Sunday morning.

Around 4:15 DS2 and I headed to the race site.
Event warmup:

We got our glow sticks. I put mine on my Santa hat and DS2 put his on his forearm. It was chilly waiting for the race to start. We watched the Kids K then lined up for our run. No warm-up to speak of.

Comments:

This race was fun. I'd wanted to do it since we moved to NM and thought I'd better do it this year while DS2 could run with me. Coming off a calf injury I felt like I was taking it really easy. The calf (or anything else for that matter) never bothered me.

The farolito route markers were pretty cool although the pavement was sketchy and I was afraid of taking a digger a couple times. It was also a rather narrow path so in order to get around slower runners I often had to go outside the markers.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.

DS2 mentioned before the start that he thought he could take OA male top 3 (there were prizes for top 3 OA men and women). I told him start in the front but he ended up mid pack with me because of the shuffling at the start and had to pass a LOT of people as he got going. He said he was about 15 seconds back when the leaders finished. He should have started up front!
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around. I had posole, DS2 had hot chocolate.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

injury :(

Event comments:

This is a fun, local race. The luminarias and posole make this race a lot of fun but the sketchy pavement was a bit scary. One of the ladies from church said she did fall and scraped up her running pants and thigh.
