Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 6 coffee en route. At 2/3 of chocolate muffin before warm up.
Event warmup:

8:30 swam for 10 minutes out and around the bouys and practiced picking up the last bouy on my way in.

need to learn to run with bike but overall I didn't give up a bunch of time here.

very frustrated with this leg. I really wish all that training made me faster here. the first half of the first loop I had difficulty settling. My legs were tight and breathing was labored.
What would you do differently?:

I honestly don't know. Just keep biking? Buy a tri bike?

should have been a 5k but it was clearly short. How short is my guess. I'd guess 2.2 - 2.5 miles. I had way too much left in the tank at the end. So mad that I had that much left.

I need to get up and go.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

dream race, longer swim shorter run :)

Event comments:

I don't know that I will do this race again. The short run is almost unforgivable. There's just no reason I can think of that they would do that. The lake is really gross. I've done a lot more open swimming since last year and this is just not a pleasant swim with the thick mud and algae.
