Total Time = 2h 34m 16s
Overall Rank = 26/152
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 5/15
Pre-race routine:

seasame bagel w/ PB, banana, 1 bottle GU brew enroute
Event warmup:

body looseners, some jogging around transition but no time for anything else
Swim
  • 28m 15s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 53s / 100 meters
Comments:

good solid swim - got a bit of drafting in the first loop, felt really solid in going straight 90% of the time
Transition 1
  • 02m 20s
Comments:

while getting into left shoe, compeltely threw it off the pedal, had to stop bike and go back for shoe. Once on, mounted into other shoe before getting up onto road
What would you do differently?:

more careful on mounting, make sure foot is off shoe before kicking it sideways to get into shoe - this I think is what cuased it.
Bike
  • 1h 12m 52s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 20.46 mile/hr
Comments:

awesome bike - felt like finally getting the handling down, very little breaking on hills and took the turns at full speed - hit 39 mph on a couple hills, also only shifted into small ring for the one big hill this time
had not lost shoe would have been 10 seconds faster for a 20.51 mph bike split - would have put me at 14th overall
What would you do differently?:

pretty much nailed it this time - keep high cadence focus
Transition 2
  • 01m 22s
Comments:

good T2 - redemption from T1
Run
  • 49m 26s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 07m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

really focused on high cadence - avg cadence entire run 91, which nailed it
hit every aid station for gatorade and then in miles 4-5, water, no gells taken this time
What would you do differently?:

understand when the last hill is so can really push the last 1/2 mile to the chute
Post race
Warm down:

walking and hydrating

What limited your ability to perform faster:

keep working on the swim, tighter flying mount on the bike, mostly like other years I never finish this race feeling 100% spent, always trying to hold some reserves to get that "next hill' but think that I've still got something in the tank at the finish line.

Event comments:

Took 6 minutes off my time from last year - 4 minutes off the bike and 2 minutes off the run - also broke through a long time barrier and hit over 20 mph on the ride and under 8:00 min/mi on the run. Also moved up from top half to top third in the AG - awesomeness all around for my 25th endurance event.
